About the Position
The Church Of The Living God is seeking a passionate, dynamic, and culturally competent Co-vocational Associate to the Pastor to serve our vibrant congregation. This position is ideal for someone who can connect with and inspire younger generations while also honoring and uplifting the spiritual wisdom and traditions of our seasoned members.
We are a predominately African American congregation, that is interdenominational, and diverse in race and age. We seek a leader who can minister effectively to all. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the unique spiritual and social needs of the Black church experience while also fostering unity and engagement across our entire church family.
As a co-vocational associate to the pastor, this position is designed for someone who will maintain an additional career or vocation alongside their ministry position at The Church Of The Living God. The associate will work closely with Senior Bishop Gwin, meeting regularly for mentorship, strategic planning, and alignment with the church’s mission. This position is more than a job. Key Responsibilities
Preaching & Teaching – Prepare and deliver powerful, biblically based sermons and Bible studies that resonate with the congregation and foster spiritual growth. Lead Bible studies, small groups, and discipleship programs.
Pastoral Care – Provide guidance, prayer, and support for members of the church. Conduct visits and officiate at special services when needed.
Leadership & Mentorship – Engage and mentor young adults, ministry leaders, and volunteers. Support intergenerational connection within the church.
Community Engagement – Represent The Church Of The Living God in the community through outreach, evangelism, and social justice initiatives that align with our mission.
Collaboration with the Senior Bishop – Work in close partnership with Bishop Gwin, meeting regularly to ensure alignment on church vision, leadership development, and strategic planning.
Ordination - Committed to completing the two-year ordination process in alignment with the Bylaws of The Church Of The Living God National Assembly.

- A spiritually mature and culturally aware leader who understands the African American church experience and can authentically minister to our diverse congregation.
- Someone with a passion for engaging younger generations while respecting and learning from the wisdom of our seasoned members.
- A strong communicator who can preach and teach in a way that is engaging, relevant, and transformative.
- Someone with ministry experience or theological training, who is also comfortable balancing ministry with an additional vocation.
- A collaborative leader who can work closely with Bishop Gwin and the church leadership to further The Church Of The Living God’s mission.
